ISEEU™ Global warns SMEs - don't let the big chill freeze your business assets

As Britain remains in the grip of the coldest winter in 30 years with freezing weather conditions and snow affecting most of the UK, ISEEU Global, the IT security solutions and services provider is urging SMEs to have secure remote working facilities in place now or pay the price in lost revenue and profits.

With industry experts putting the cost of the cold to the UK economy at some £690m a day as people are forced to stay at home, grit supplies run short, trains and buses are cancelled and schools close, the big freeze is having a devastating impact on businesses up and down the country, and in particular, smaller businesses.

ISEEU Global provides secure remote working solutions to support businesses and enable employees - who may be unable to get into the office due to being snowed in or having to look after children when the schools are closed - to remain productive while working from home.

Phil Bullivant, director of ISEEU, said: "While 'snow days' are fun for the nation's schoolchildren, they are no laughing matter for the country's 4.8m small and medium sized businesses already struggling in the somewhat chilly economy.

"Up until now, the major benefits of home working and having secure, remote access to internal data systems has largely been the preserve of big businesses and senior management teams. However, that needs to change if UK SMEs are to remain competitive, keep the revenue coming in and ultimately stay in business.

"It is imperative that businesses take extra precautions to help them continue trading despite the difficult weather conditions. Ensuring employees can log in to office systems safely and securely from home will ensure SMEs don't lose vital revenue or adversely impact customer service when staff members are snowed in. It also means that employees don't feel they need to risk life and limb on dangerously icy roads to get into the office."

To reduce the negative impact the snow and ice is having on firms, ISEEU Global recommends businesses review their IT systems and use the technology that is available to fully equip staff with the applications they need to work effectively from home.

Phil Bullivant added: "ISEEU™ Global Accessibility Suite provides businesses with data and applications that can be accessed securely from anywhere at any time, reducing time pressures and enhancing working capabilities enabling staff to perform more effectively from the comfort of their own home. Not only that but it can be implemented quickly and cost effectively with seamless integration into firms' existing IT provision.

"In this day and age, offering web-based email alone isn't enough - SMEs need to seamlessly deliver all work applications to ensure maximum productivity away from confines of the office in a robust, secure environment.

"The ISEEU Global Accessibility Suite enables snow bound staff based in different locations to have remote access to internal applications and data, electronically courier documents of any file size or type to multiple recipients and host 'virtual meetings'; allowing them to view the same documents, images, applications and desktops safely and securely without the need to set a foot outside their front door."

ISEEU technology has security at the heart of its remote working software, delivering a complete solution that is designed to protect customers' organisational data to the highest level.

Phil Bullivant concluded: "These are indeed testing times for SMEs but firms have to seriously rethink their IT strategy to enable employees to work efficiently and effectively from home and ensure it is 'business as usual' despite the weather. Failure to do so will squeeze revenue, impact the bottom line and could threaten business survival."
